Cirque or circus coach ready to step off the road and into something stable? If you have experience in partner acrobatics, spotting, harness work, or choreography, this is a unique opportunity to apply your skills in a supportive, performance-focused environment - with full funding and guidance to transition into Acrobatic Gymnastics accreditation. SGAC runs a competitive Acrobatic Gymnastics (ACR) program that works with pairs and groups to create strong, artistic routines that blend athletic skill with performance and musicality. We welcome coaches from cirque, circus, aerials, acro-dance, or performance backgrounds who bring the right foundations, even if they don’t currently hold Acrobatic Gymnastics accreditation. If you bring the practical skills, we’ll support the rest. About the role:
In this role you will work with our Acro gymnasts to develop, improve, and polish their skills. Key responsibilities include:
- Coach and develop athletes in partner and group acrobatics, blending technical skills with performance and artistry
- Safely progress skills using spotting, harnesses and belts
- Develop choreography, musicality and routine cleaning
- Deliver structured training aligned to competition pathways
Who's right for the job? We are open to coaches from circus, cirque, aerials, acro-dance, and elite performance backgrounds who may not come from a traditional gymnastics pathway. - Cirque, circus, aerials, acro-dance or elite performance background
- Experience in performance, choreography, musicality, and artistic presentation.
- Confidence with spotting systems and safety equipment
- Passion for coaching athletes in a consistent program
We Invest in You: - Funded Gymnastics Australia / NSW accreditation
- Mentoring in ACR rules, judging and competition preparation
- Ongoing professional development
What will you need to be considered? - First Aid Certificate/CPR
- Working with children Check clearance (18+ years)
- Strong commitment to athlete safety and child-safe practices
- Clear communication skills and professional conduct
- Reliability and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Experience in circus or performance-based coaching, bringing artistic and technical skills that complement existing Acrobatic Gymnastics accredited coaches (preferred)
- Routine composition experience (music selection, themes, transitions, cleaning) (preferred)
- Gymnastics Australia technical membership or coaching accreditation (not mandatory – support provided for the right candidate to obtain).
