About the role:
The Technical Supervisor - Lighting is responsible for delivering high-quality lighting and design services at the Coliseum Theatre (CT). This customer-focused role supports the technical delivery of a wide range of productions and events, assists with day-to-day operations, and ensures ongoing maintenance of lighting systems. Working closely with internal and external creative teams, the role helps realise artistic visions within agreed timelines, budgets, and professional standards.
The day to day:
Work with and alongside the CT Technical team, visiting creatives and Production Managers of individual productions to realise the production’s Lighting requirements/needs and ensure the design is presented to the highest standard within allocated resources.
Always provide the highest level of customer and audience service.
Work cohesively within a small team to ensure venue standards are met and presented to clients to a high level of excellence.
Assist with production load-ins and load-outs.
Provide show cover as needed.
Act as Duty Technician / Chief or Deputy fire warden during performances or in the event of an emergency as needed.
Actively contribute to the effective operation and running of the CT.
Support the Technical Manager in effectively managing the Technical Department to ensure the flow of information both within the Department and to other stakeholders is clear.
Recruit, manage and schedule freelance and local Lighting technicians.
Source Lighting equipment hires and purchases as required, within agreed budgets.
We are looking for someone who has:
Demonstrated experience in an equivalent role working in a large-scale venue.
Comprehensive understanding of Lighting equipment, power distribution and networking.
Extensive experience operating a Grand MA3 console and other industry-leading Lighting consoles.
Strong knowledge in moving light technology.
Experience communicating Production and Event requirements to internal and external stakeholders.
Experience in coordinating external suppliers to deliver events and performances on time and within budget.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and positive solutions-focused attitude.
Basic knowledge of Computer Aided Drawing software (CAD), ability to read and interpret plans.
Competent in the use of Microsoft suite products, including Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint.
Must have First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain).
